Meet Our Team

Anna Smith-Dawson

Hi, I’m Anna! Music has been the heartbeat of my life—from grade school through post-graduate studies; leading me to work alongside Broadway directors in productions such as Romeo and Juliet and A Chorus Line. While performance shaped my foundation, teaching found me unexpectedly. Stepping in as a last-minute substitute instructor with nothing but instinct, I witnessed a student’s passion ignite, and in that moment, everything clicked. It reminded me why I fell in love with music in the first place. Today, at East-Tones Music, my mission is to create that same spark in every student and help them discover the passion, confidence, and connection that music brings.

Founder & Instructor

Voice/Piano/Acting

Kevin Grifone

Piano Instructor

I am a pianist and composer from Easton PA. I am a honors commercial music graduate of Kutztown University, I have studied classical music, as well as popular music styles such as jazz and pop in KU’s top commercial ensembles.

I have experience in a wide variety of musical genres, such as jazz, fusion, pop, rock, classical, and even video game music! Whether it's learning basic music composition, music performance, harmony and theory, ear training, or music transcription, I am confident that I can help every student discover and explore their musical interests and passions!

My teaching philosophy is rooted in desiring the best for every student and adjusting to their individual learning needs. Not all students learn the same way or have the same musical interests, and I am ready and willing to accommodate for those unique differences!

Ellie Carroll

Vocal Instructor

Ellie is a vocalist from Easton PA. She studied at Kutztown University, with training in classical and commercial styles of singing from the school’s top Jazz and Rock ensembles. Ellie is experienced in a wide range of genres, including Jazz, Rock, Pop, RnB, and Musical Theatre. Over the last four years she has worked with multiple bands in the New Jersey music scene, such as Brian Kirk and the Jirks and The Cliffs.

Her teaching philosophy is based on the idea that no two voices are alike. Everyone’s path to finding their voice is different, so Ellie can adjust to each students individual learning needs. The fact that everyone’s voice is so unique is what makes the voice such a great instrument, so Ellie can help you embrace your differences and elevate your performances to a new level!

Emily attended Professional Performing Arts High School in NYC as a Vocal Major for a short time, and was instructed by the same vocal coach as Alicia Keys. Emily attended the College of Staten Island, and graduated with honors, cum laude, with a major in Linguistics and a minor in American Sign Language, in which she is fluent. In addition to her ever-expanding vocal career, Emily has also been an educator for the general public including children and adults with I/DD since 2011. Being well versed in multiple interventions to assist any learner of any age and ability, Emily creates a hand tailored experience for each of her students, that makes them feel safe, seen, and empowered to reach their personal goals.

Matthew Giobbi

Piano, Trumpet & Trombone Instructor

Hi! I’m Matthew Giobbi, and I’m so excited to help you find your voice on the piano or trombone. My own path has taken me from private studies with Easton's Paul Schocker to The Mannes College of Music and The Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and I love bringing those diverse experiences into our lessons. Since 2004, I’ve also taught in the psychology department at Rutgers University Newark, which helps me guide students toward that wonderful sense of "quiet stillness" and mental focus that music provides. I truly believe that learning an instrument should be a joyful, life-shaping journey, and I can’t wait to start that adventure with you!

Emily Brands

Piano Instructor

Emily is a pianist and organist from the Lehigh Valley. She graduated from Moravian University with a degree in Music Education and has been teaching in various positions since then, gaining a wide variety of experiences. Over the last decade, she has been working professionally with ensembles and individuals as a pianist, accompanying ensembles and individuals through local connections such as Moravian University, Bel Canto Youth Chorus, and  Nazareth Area High School.
